Overview

The RI Fundamentals for Retail Advisors course is for retail advisors, planners and investment specialists who want to enhance their knowledge of responsible investment (RI). It provides learners with an overview of the RI market, including trends, emerging policies and best practices, and practical insights on RI strategies and practice management. The course equips retail advisors with the knowledge they need to discuss environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues with Canadian retail clients, and the tools to offer advice about retail RI products in Canada.

On completion, this course is eligible for:

  • 10 FP Canada CE credits
  • 10 IAFE (“The Institute”) CE credits
  • 8.5 IIROC CE credits
  • 8 IQPF PDUs
  • 10 CSF PDUs (5 General, 5 Mutual Funds)
  • 10 MFDA CE credits

Course Format

RI Fundamentals for Retail Advisors is a self-paced, online course – you decide when you start and when you finish. The course can typically be completed within 10 hours.  After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course until you complete it. The course content provides an overview of the Canadian responsible investment industry and market; it does not require you to perform calculations, nor does it require advanced training in financial analysis.

Once you have studied the material, you will take a 90-minute multiple-choice exam composed of 50 questions. You must score a minimum of 80% to pass the course.
