Daniel Fuentes

Administrative Director, Climate Engagement Canada

Daniel is the Administrative Director of Climate Engagement Canada (or CEC), the first-of-its-kind in the world national Net-Zero engagement mechanism that is working with 31+ institutional investors, collectively managing almost $4T in assets, who engage with 40 Toronto Stock Exchange listed companies (from the energy sector, utilities, transportation, etc.) to accelerate Canada’s transition to Net Zero.

Before joining the RIA and CEC, Daniel worked in international development, social finance, and conservation finance. His experience includes leading the design and implementation of economic development initiatives in emerging and frontier markets in partnership with bilateral agencies, multilateral organizations, and development financial institutions.

Daniel designed one of Canada’s first blended finance mechanisms for conservation impact (Deshkan Ziibi Conservation Impact Bond), and he has co-led the implementation of professional development programs and coaching services for social entrepreneurs. Daniel has also connected numerous capital-raising social enterprises to investors looking to make a positive impact. Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration from Richard Ivey Business School at Western University.
