The Responsible Investment Advisor Certification (RIAC) is suitable for IIROC-licensed investment advisors and portfolio managers.

Required Courses

To earn an RIAC designation, you must complete the PRI Academy’s Foundations in RI with a score of 80% or higher.

You must also:

  • Be an RIA Member
  • Agree with the Statement of Purpose of the RIA
  • Be in good standing with any regulatory bodies that he or she is part of
  • Complete 6 hours of continuing education (CE) activities on a biennial basis to ensure your expertise is current.

The Foundations in RI course is priced at CAD $1,120, and RIA Members receive a 10% discounted rate.

Since you are required to be an RIA Member to qualify for RIAC/RIPC certification, we recommend that you become an RIA Member before enrolling in your program so you receive the RIA Member discount. RIA Membership is $350 annually for advisors and other individuals.

Alternative pathway to RIAC Designation:

Complete Concordia’s SIPC program plus the Canadian RI Fundamentals course, with a score of 75% or higher. Candidate must still apply and be a member of the RIA, agree with the Statement of Purpose of the RIA, and be in good standing with regulatory bodies that he or she is a part which.
