Description

Water is one of our most vital resources, essential for life and the effective functioning of the global economy. However, the trends of demographics, ongoing industrialization and climate change are serving to disrupt the world’s freshwater supplies. The World Economic Forum ranks water crises, including drought and flooding as a Top risk for the 3rd year running. “Water stress is the biggest crisis no one is talking about,” said Water Resources Institute CEO Andrew Steer, in a statement, “Its consequences are in plain sight in the form of food insecurity, conflict and migration, and financial instability.” The question of sufficient access to quality water naturally impacts businesses and society- generating risks and opportunities for investors, businesses and communities alike.

MacEwan University’s Social Innovation Institute, in partnership with Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and the Net Impact Edmonton Professional Chapter, invite you to join a lunchtime panel discussion during Responsible Investment Week to explore how investors are exercising voice within the global financial system to effect positive outcomes for all.
