We believe investors should not have to sacrifice their core values to meet their financial goals, so we created the Blue Heron ESG Leader Portfolios to offer Responsible Investing to our clients.

The flexibility of our discretionary managed portfolio system has allowed us to be innovative in our thinking and launch these portfolios that focus on sustainable investing. In a dynamic, interconnected world, there is no “simply getting rid of stocks, bonds or investment funds that are unethical or morally ambiguous,” We developed tough screening criteria – our Blue Heron Investment Principles – which constitute a methodology to remove subjectivity from our Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) screening and create a reasonable, objective, and repeatable means to identify better companies and build better portfolios.

Our financial planning approach starts by listening. We want to achieve a full understanding of where you are, and where you would like to go. We work with our clients to develop a meaningful plan for them. We listen, to identify key issues and help you to understand the options available. From this we guide you through the process to make better informed decisions.

We have the scale, flexibility and independence to tailor solutions just for you.

Tom Caldwell

We provide comprehensive investment and financial planning with a screen for socially responsible companies in both Canada and the United States.

Alicja Brown

Alicja Brown is an Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy. For over ten years, she has been helping clients achieve their financial goals through comprehensive tax, estate, business succession and retirement planning.

Clients can expect a high level of service from Alicja and her team. Customized financial plans define each client’s own goals. An action plan details specific steps and a timeline of achievement. We build a team of professionals around our valued clients consisting of accountants, estate lawyers and others to ensure the alignment and prioritization of financial goals.

She is a member of FP Canada, the Alberta and Ontario Insurance Councils and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta. She is on the Board of the Responsible Investment Association of Canada.

Alicja is passionate about responsible investment and looks forward to a day when the integration of environmental, social, and corporate governance factors are a step in every investment selection process.

Patrick Briscoe

Patrick entered the financial industry in 2011 after returning from a six-month teaching trip in London, England. As a certified teacher with a keen interest in finance, Patrick was inspired to combine his skill set. Once landed back in Canada he quickly began his journey to becoming a Financial Advisor – it was a natural fit!

Since 2012, Patrick’s main focus has been holistic financial advice for his clients – considering all aspects of their financial picture. Now a Certified Financial Planner, Patrick assists clients in making calculated steps toward their retirement, tax, and estate planning goals. And he does so in a friendly and common-sense manner that is easy to understand – he is a teacher after all!

Patrick holds an Honors BA in Social Justice & Peace Studies and Political Science from Western University, a Bachelor of Education (U of T), and is a member of the Responsible Investment Association and Rotary International.

Patrick’s dedication to social justice goes beyond the office and socially responsible investments. He has participated in various humanitarian initiatives, including free educational summer camps for children in Jamaica, a month-long food security delegation to El Salvador, among others.

When not at the office, Patrick is spending time with his wife Rita, and their children. He has the travel bug and also enjoys skiing, scuba diving, and learning new hobbies.

WEALTH PLANNING IS ABOUT MUCH MORE THAN MONEY.
True wealth is defined as the ability to live life on your terms and to reach the goals that you set for yourself, your family and your business to create a legacy that reflects your values.
The Blanchard Group helps you and your family redefine your relationship to money through financial independence planning and a sustainable investment strategy that integrates environmental, social and governance factors – so you can focus on living your abundant life.
We believe the best way to generate superior risk-adjusted returns is to fully incorporate long-term environmental, social and economic trends within investment decision-making.
Please contact us or visit our website to learn how we can help you create a life in alignment with your deepest values.

Peter has been part of the Legacy Wealth Coach network since 2001. His firm uses a values-based planning approach designed to answer three questions: What does it mean to be financially independent? What is an appropriate legacy for my family? Is my estate arranged in a manner consistent with my values? Part of the values conversation explores the use of RI as a criteria for investment decisions. Peter obtained his RIS designation in 2019.

Peter joined the Estate Planning Council of Toronto in 2011. He is a member of the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and is a graduate of their Advanced Gift Planning Course in 2007 and 2024.
