Eric Quao
Eric Quao is a highly experienced finance and accounting professional currently pursuing his MBA at Vancouver Island University. With over 15 years of progressive experience, his expertise lies at the intersection of Development Finance, Financial Due Diligence, and Financial Inclusion within emerging and global growth markets. Eric is a Certified Responsible Investment Professional (RIPC) through the Responsible Investment Association (RIA), Canada, and is committed to utilizing capital and robust compliance standards to generate both financial returns and verifiable social impact.
Eric has extensive experience supporting global consulting firms and delivering projects for highly reputable international development agencies, including the Mastercard Foundation, DANIDA, USAID, and KfW (German Development Bank). His commitment to sustainability is further backed by a specialized certification in Green Growth, Climate Change, and Environmental Sustainability awarded by NIRAS International Consulting, Denmark.
As a Financial Specialist for multi-million Euro donor-funded projects, Eric successfully managed IFRS-compliant financial reporting and rigorous statutory requirements. Notably, he led the financial due diligence for the disbursement of over €20 Million in credit lines. While these funds were channeled through financial institutions, the primary beneficiaries were smallholder farmers and outgrowers, ensuring that capital reached the grassroots level to strengthen agricultural value chains and local economies.
In addition to his global development work, Eric possesses a strong understanding of the Canadian fiscal environment, having completed the Federal Income Tax Level 1 certification with H&R Block Canada. He consistently enforces credit risk compliance and coordinates complex internal and external audits across large commercial loan portfolios.
Eric is dedicated to contributing to the Canadian Responsible Investment landscape, as evidenced by his RIPC designation and his affiliation with the Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development (CAFIID). He holds an MSc in Accounting & Finance (Merit) from the University of Northampton, UK, and is a Chartered Banker (ACIB), Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, providing a robust technical foundation for advanced financial strategy and banking compliance.

The Atkinson Foundation is a private charitable foundation. Atkinson’s mission is to promote social and economic justice. Its strategic priority is decent work for people who earn the least in Ontario. As an advocate, funder and investor, Atkinson contributes to social movements seeking equitable employment standards, income security, workplace democracy, and social support. This contribution is informed by a deep commitment to racial and Indigenous justice.
Atkinson’s endowment is valued at approximately $100M. Its investment portfolio includes a mix of Global, US and Canadian equities, bonds and mission-related investments to generate financial returns and deliver positive social and environmental outcomes. Atkinson disperses 5.75% of its total net assets (on a two year rolling basis) through funding and other programs. It has an “open door” policy and receives inquiries about funding from registered charities and nonprofit organizations on an ongoing basis.
